well this is how live is like when you walk downl to Bakau beach in the everning. There are othere busy and crowed place for selling different kind of rosted fish and other kind of food for those that comes to take a walk along the beach side.
Your post is nice. Bakau Beach is small town which will take you back in years where people had no watch but had time for each other and away from place where people have watch (Tag Heur and Cartier!) but no time for each other. Bakau Beach is a beautiful sight to see when you see the fishing pirogues lined on the shore in the twilight when the fishermen come over to take it and still practice the old age method of fishing and take boats in water.
According to Wikipedia, "Serrekunda (or Serekunda) is the largest city in The Gambia, lying southwest of Banjul. Its population as of 2006, was 335,733 people. Although Banjul is The Gambia's capital, it is on an island and cannot grow further, making much of the growth in Serrekunda."
Scene looks like it could have been taken hundreds of years ago. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard work! I wonder what kind of fish they catch? I'd be seasick...
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of boats!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! So many boats and people busy working. This should be framed and hung in a gallery!
ReplyDeleteWorking as a fisherman in the North of Spain a decade ago, seeing this beautiful photography of yours provided nice memories - thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteIt might even be true that one doesn't need only to know how to build a boat, but also have the desire for life, while going out to sail upon the sea.
A fine photo of all the colorful fishing boats.
