Serrekunda market also has a special market for tourists. These items you are seeing are locally made by wood carvers and brought to the market here for sale. There are very nice and interesting items are sold here.
According to Wikipedia, "Serrekunda (or Serekunda) is the largest city in The Gambia, lying southwest of Banjul. Its population as of 2006, was 335,733 people. Although Banjul is The Gambia's capital, it is on an island and cannot grow further, making much of the growth in Serrekunda."
I love the wooden masks! It would be fun to do some shopping there! My wife would go crazy looking at the beads!
